After the stay
Who drives the first week home
Write who drives to the first outpatient slot and who does not drive if a new medicine makes the road unsafe. Discharge is not a ride service. This page is a question list. It is not a transport desk.

Ask before the car keys move
- Did the discharging clinician say driving is safe on the current medicines? Get that in the discharge papers. See medicines at discharge.
- Who drives to the dated slot, and what is the clinic-owned phone if the slot is missed. See missed first slot.
- If the trip is not safe, do not drive. Call 911 for an emergency. See 988, 911, and SAMHSA.
What this page does not do
It does not book cars, flights, or escorts. Keys are a household decision. See cash and keys. Locator: FindTreatment.gov.
Questions people ask
Can they drive home from campus?
Only if the discharge papers and the driver agree the road is safe. This site does not clear anyone to drive.
Who drives to the first appointment?
Name that person before discharge day. A promise to find a ride later is not a plan.
Does this site arrange transport?
No. This site is not a clinic and not a transport desk. Treatment information: SAMHSA 1-800-662-HELP.
