After the stay
The first week home after residential treatment
The first week home is a plan, not a vibe. Before anyone leaves campus, put four things on paper: the next appointment date, medicines and who refills them, the contact rule for family, and what to do if the week goes badly. A party, a clean room, or a marketer’s check-in is not that plan. This page is a question list. It is not a clinic and not a placement service.

On the table
- The written aftercare plan and the first outpatient date.
- Original-bottle medicines and the named refiller. See medicines at discharge.
- Who family may call, if a release is on file. See HIPAA and family authorization.
- Work limits, if any, from the work-return letter.
If the week goes badly
Danger or overdose: 911. Mental-health crisis: 988. Then the aftercare number. See relapse after discharge and 911, 988, and SAMHSA.
