Police, fire, EMS, dispatch, corrections

The culture that runs toward the call is the culture that delays the stay.

Large treatment systems publish first-responder tracks because the job stacks trauma, shift work, and a fitness-for-duty file. That is not the same as a higher disease rate in every study. It is why peer groups and department assistance programs exist, and why the International Association of Fire Fighters built its own Center of Excellence rather than sending members into a generic admissions line.

Ask any residential program whether the cohort is actually other responders or a marketing label. Ask about PTSD as a co-occurring condition, not a slogan. Ask the department EAP or union before an out-of-state call center books a flight. Fitness-for-duty and gun or medic credentials are the logistics a brochure will skip.

If tonight is acute, 988 and SAMHSA 1-800-662-HELP are still the public lines. This site does not run a responder helpline.
