Official locator, not our roster

Pre-filled FindTreatment.gov search strings by state

FindTreatment.gov is SAMHSA’s confidential locator. This page does not republish its inventory. The public form does not keep a durable share URL with “residential, this state” already applied, so families still type a location and set filters. Use the string in the table, open the official locator, switch Distance to State, then filter to residential or hospital inpatient. That is the pre-fill we can honestly hand you.

Four clicks after you paste the state

  1. Open FindTreatment.gov locator.
  2. Paste the search string from the table into Your Location and pick the state suggestion if one appears.
  3. Uncheck Distance. Check State. A 25-mile default is not a statewide list.
  4. Under Filter by, choose Substance Use, then Service Setting: residential and/or hospital inpatient. Call the facility before you travel.

State licensing bodies sit on our directory hub. License walkthrough for five large states: license lookup. If tonight cannot wait: SAMHSA 1-800-662-HELP.

Search strings — 50 states and DC

Copy the location string. The locator column is always SAMHSA’s form. The local column is this site’s official-link page for that state — still not a facility roster.

What the developer export is not

SAMHSA publishes a developer guide with JSON export URLs that use coordinates, limitType, and service codes. Those endpoints are for registered data users. They are not a family results page, and this site does not proxy them into a fake directory.

Also useful on the official domain: state agencies and locator widgets. We do not embed a widget that could be mistaken for our own intake form.

After a name appears

Match the legal name and the sleeping address on the state list. Ask which ASAM level that address is staffed to deliver. Scripts: how to choose, insurer call, ASAM levels.

This page does not place anyone. Default public line: SAMHSA 1-800-662-HELP. We do not operate a rented tracking number and we do not take payment per admission.

Educational only. Official locator: findtreatment.gov/locator. Citation-worthy text: llms.txt.
