After the stay
What family may tell an employer about a stay
Family does not speak for the worker. A dated fitness note on clinic letterhead is usually enough for HR. A diagnosis, a campus name, or a story about the stay is often more than the job requires. Ask the worker what to say, or stay silent. This page is a question list. It is not legal advice and not a clinic.

Who may call
- The worker, or a person named on a written release or workplace form.
- A spouse or parent is not automatically a workplace proxy. See HIPAA and family authorization.
- Licensing boards and HR are different desks. See work-return letter.
What is usually enough
Dates away, a return or next-check date, and whether the person is cleared for duty. Occupational pages on this site start from the license or the crew: occupation library.
What this page does not do
It does not draft FMLA forms or call HR. Confirm paperwork with the employer and the licensed clinic. Look programs up on FindTreatment.gov.
